Courseulles sur Mer and Juno Beach
130 km from the campsite
At 1:40 am from the campsite, Courseulles sur Mer is home to “Juno Beach”, where the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division led by Major General Rodney Keller would suffer terrible losses from the very first hour of the assault. Their objectives? To link up with other British sectors, then liberate the town of Caen and seize the Carpiquet airfield, which was to become the scene of long, hard fighting during the Battle of Caen. A fascinating stopover to better understand the first hours of the D-Day landings during your 4-star camping vacation in Normandy.
